FPGA · Video
High-speed SDI video on Xilinx FPGA
Design and debug of SDI video transport on a unique Xilinx FPGA-based product. Investigated and resolved clock recovery issues, SDI startup and synchronisation issues, and jitter anomalies, delivering a production-ready solution.
ASIC · Digital design
RTL design for custom silicon
Block-level RTL design and verification contributing to ASIC tapeout. Worked across RTL development and functional/formal verification stages, targetting agreed test coverage metrics.
Systems · PCB
High-speed board design & bringup
End-to-end PCB design for a high-speed mixed-signal PCIe system, from concept design to schematic capture to layout and lab bringup. Managed SI constraints, PCIe compliance, power requirements, and manufacturing handover.
Rapid prototyping · Embedded software
Off-the-shelf-hardware proof of concept
Rapid prototyping of data-logging hardware using off-the-shelf materials and Python-based software to create a proof of concept for an early-stage startup. Delivered in 4 weeks.
Career history
Independent Contractor
Operating as a contractor through ACELG LTD, taking on high-impact engagements in FPGA design, embedded systems, and hardware development. Clients include startup founders and broadcast video companies.
Verification Engineer
Graphcore is a unicorn startup developing next-generation AI hardware, acquired by SoftBank in 2024. I worked on the silicon verification team, on both UVM-based testbenches, and also an in-house C++ and Python-based test framework, primarily on modules peripheral to bought-in PCIe blocks.
Group Leader
Broadcom is a global semiconductor and software company focused on infrastructure solutions. I acted as a line manager and project manager for a team of 5 engineers, integrated with teams in India and the US, delivering improvements to cloud-based video transcoding hardware.
Group Leader / Principal Engineer
Argon Design was a technology consultancy engaging in the development of board-level hardware, RTL for FPGAs and ASICs, low-level software, algorithms, and system architectures. It worked as an outsourced development team for other companies on a project basis and was acquired by Broadcom in 2019. Its customers ranged from multinationals to individual entrepreneurs.
